Liebe Mitglieder, Freundinnen und Freunde des NFDI4Biodiversity-Netzwerks, liebe Community,

in den kommenden Wochen stehen gleich drei Events an, auf die wir euch aufmerksam machen möchten bzw. auf denen wir euch zu treffen hoffen.

DataXplorers Hackathon – Registrierung geöffnet!

Zunächst möchten wir euch darauf aufmerksam machen, dass die Registrierung für den DataXplorers Hackathon, der am 23. Oktober startet, ab sofort geöffnet ist (Registrierungsschluss: 1. Oktober): https://www.nfdi.de/dataxplorers-hackathon/

Der weitgehend remote stattfindende Hackathon richtet sich an Nachwuchs- und erfahrene Wissenschaftler:innen aus den Feldern Erdsystem-, Biodiversitäts- und Mikrobiologieforschung sowie Interessierte aus anderen Feldern, etwa Informatik oder Design. Das Organisationsteam hat dafür spannende Challenges zu unterschiedlichen Themen vorbereitet (bspw. zu Chat-Bots, die Fragen zu Forschungsdatenmanagementthemen beantworten, oder historische Moordaten, die digitalisiert und erstmals in Kartentools visualisiert werden sollen), denen Teilnehmende sich je nach Interesse zuordnen können. Für die Bearbeitung der Aufgaben ist mehrere Wochen Zeit, bis am 5. und 6. Dezember 2023 in Frankfurt die Ergebnisse präsentiert werden. Der Hackathon wird von den NFDI-Konsortien NFDI4Biodiversity, NFDI4Earth<https://www.nfdi4earth.de/> und NFDI4Microbiota<https://nfdi4microbiota.de/> ausgerichtet.

 NFDI4Biodiversity auf der GfÖ-Jahrestagung und der 1. NFDI-Konferenz (CoRDI)

Das Konsortium verteilt sich in der kommenden Woche (11.-17. September) auf Leipzig und Karlsruhe: NFDI4Biodiversity ist mit zahlreichen Talks, Workshops und Postern sowie zwei Infoständen auf der Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Ökologie (GfÖ) sowie der 1st Conference on Research Data Infrastructure (CoRDI) vertreten. We have two events coming up in the next few weeks that we would like to draw your attention to and hope to see you at!

DataXplorers Hackathon - Registration open!

First of all, we would like to inform you that registration for the DataXplorers Hackathon, which starts on 23 October, is now open (registration deadline: 1 October): https://www.nfdi.de/dataxplorers-hackathon/

The largely remote hackathon is aimed at young and experienced scientists from the fields of earth system, biodiversity and microbiology research as well as interested people from other fields, such as computer science or design. The organising team has prepared exciting challenges on various topics (e.g. chat bots that answer questions on research data management topics, or historical moor data that is to be digitised and visualised in map tools for the very first time), to which participants can assign themselves according to their interests. There will be several weeks to complete the tasks before the results are presented in Frankfurt on 5 and 6 December 2023. The hackathon is jointly organised by the NFDI consortia NFDI4Biodiversity, NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Microbiota.

We would be very happy if you could widely promote the event with us!

NFDI4Biodiversity at the GfÖ Annual Conference and the 1st NFDI Conference (CoRDI)

The consortium will be spread over Leipzig and Karlsruhe in the coming week (11-17 September): NFDI4Biodiversity is represented with numerous talks, workshops and posters as well as two information booths at the Annual Conference of the Society for Ecology (GfÖ) and the 1st Conference on Research Data Infrastructure (CoRDI).
