[NFDI4Biodiversity Community] Fachübergreifender Helpdesk-Support: Zehn NFDI-Konsortien bündeln Expertise

Liebe Mitglieder, Freundinnen und Freunde des NFDI4Biodiversity-Netzwerks,

in der täglichen Arbeit mit Daten können sich viele Fragen ergeben oder Unsicherheiten auftun – etwa zur Nutzung passender Repositorien oder zu rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen.

Doch wohin mit der eigenen Anfrage, wenn das Thema über die Grenzen der eigenen Disziplin hinausgeht?

Für diese Fälle haben engagierte Kolleg:innen von zehn Konsortien der Nationalen Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) nun eine Lösung erarbeitet: das Geo-Chem-Life Science Helpdesk Cluster – eine enge Helpdesk-Kooperation über Fächergrenzen hinweg.

Was bedeutet das für Forschende, Datenmanager:innen und andere Nutzer:innen des Helpdesks?
Wer mit einer datenbezogenen Frage an den Helpdesk des fachlich passenden Konsortiums herantritt, erhält künftig nicht nur eine qualifizierte Rückmeldung – sondern profitiert im Hintergrund von der gebündelten Fachkompetenz aller beteiligten Partner. Die Bearbeitung erfolgt dabei weiterhin aus einer Hand – aber mit Rückgriff auf ein gemeinsames Wissensnetzwerk.

Ziel ist es, Hilfesuchenden die bestmögliche Unterstützung bei Fragen des Forschungsdatenmanagements zu bieten – unabhängig davon, ob ihr Vorhaben eine, zwei oder diverse Fachdisziplinen berührt.

Formalisiert wurde die Zusammenarbeit durch ein gemeinsames Memorandum of Understanding, in dem die Konsortien sich darauf verständigen, ihre Beratungskapazitäten künftig enger zu verzahnen, voneinander zu lernen – und Nutzer:innen Orientierung und Qualität zu bieten.

Dear members, friends and supporters of the NFDI4Biodiversity network,

when working with data, a broad range of questions and uncertainties may arise — for example regarding the use of suitable repositories or legal frameworks.

But where should users turn when their inquiry goes beyond the boundaries of a single discipline?

To address this challenge, dedicated colleagues from ten consortia within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) have developed a solution: the Geo-Chem-Life Science Helpdesk Cluster — a close collaboration between helpdesks across disciplinary lines.

What does this mean for researchers, data stewards and other helpdesk users?
Those who contact the helpdesk of the consortium most relevant to their topic will continue to receive a qualified response — and in the background, benefit from the pooled expertise of all ten participating partners. While the communication still comes from a single point of contact, it draws on a shared knowledge network.

The aim is to offer users the best possible support in all matters related to research data management — regardless of whether their work [cid:image001.png at 01DBAF8C.1402ED60] touches one, two or several scientific domains.

The following ten NFDI consortia are part of the cluster:

The collaboration is formalised through a joint Memorandum of Understanding, in which the consortia commit to working more closely together, learning from each other — and providing users with clear guidance and high-quality support.
